The Archives Assistant will focus primarily on pruning, integrating, safekeeping, and cataloging the Florida Park Service archives. There are also photographs, slides, and thousands of building/architectural plans to digitize and enter into PastPerfect (the collections management program used by the FPS). We do not expect a new employee to have experience with PastPerfect museum software or FPS procedures, but we do expect him/her to become experienced. The Archives Assistant should soon be able to answer questions from the field about PastPerfect and FPS collections management Dos & Don’ts. There may be some opportunities to work in the field and to travel to state parks to assist staff with park collections – though travel will not be required and with our ever-shrinking budget, it might not even be possible.
The OPS position would begin immediately and be paid $8/hr. The internship(s) would begin in January and be unpaid.
Folks interested should email me (piper.ferriter@dep.state.fl.us), resume/CV attached.
