Job Description: Undergraduate Student Assistant, FSU iCAMP Planning/Follow up (2 openings)

Position Overview: We are seeking two detail-oriented and motivated undergraduate student to assist with various administrative tasks related to our summer camp programs at Florida State University’s College of Communication and Information. This role is ideal for a student who is organized, enjoys working with data, and has strong communication and IT skills. The position will focus on four primary responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Prepping for Next Year’s Camp 2025:
    • Assist in the planning and logistical coordination for the upcoming summer camp 2025.
    • Collaborate with iCamp team faculty/staff to develop a timeline and checklist for camp preparations.
    • Manage inventory and order supplies needed for camp activities.
    • Promote camp, design flyers, update current social media with camp Alumni info!
  2. Tracking Camp Participants (Last 7 Years):
    • Compile and maintain a comprehensive database of camp participants from the past seven years.
    • Analyze participant data to identify trends and opportunities for alumni engagement.
    • Develop strategies to enhance connections with past participants, including alumni newsletters or networking events.
    • Create a graphic representation about the success of FSU iCamp alumni
  3. Writing Stories About the Camp:
    • Research and gather information on past camps, including participant experiences and outcomes.
    • Write engaging and informative stories that highlight the impact of the camp on students and the community.
    • Collaborate with the communications team to publish stories on the college’s website, newsletters, and social media platforms.
    • Interview camp participants, staff, and alumni to create compelling narratives that promote the camp’s mission.
  4. Setting Up and Design of a Podcast Studio:
    • Assist in the setup and configuration of a podcast studio.
    • Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for initial users of the podcast equipment.
    • Support the creation of a podcast project for the summer camp, and other grants as needed, including planning and recording interviews with camp participants.
    • Work on a future grant proposal related to the podcast studio, including initial design of the “intro” and “outro” for streaming and marketing brand.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at Florida State University.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with data management and analysis is a plus.
  • Experience in podcasting and media production is desirable, but not required.
  • Experience in graphic design and branding for social media and streaming.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
