Responsibilities
The news intern will be exposed to various aspects of news gathering and production, develop skills for researching and fact checking news stories, log video and assist with planning, producing and executing daily news content and a weekly half-hour newscast during legislative session.
Intern may have the opportunity to accompany producers, reporters and videographers in the field at news conferences, committee hearings and other assignments. Intern may eventually be assigned to cover news events independently and write/produce news elements. The specific length of the internship, minimum hours required to work to receive credits, eligibility and college credits awarded for successful completion of the program must be verified with the student?s faculty advisor.
Qualifications
- Degree-seeking Junior or Senior or recent college graduate with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- A professional demeanor and work ethic consistent with the Capitol Building environment.
- Strong research, writing and organizational skills.
- Ability to work throughout the 2026 Regular Legislative Session (January ? March).
