Mark Zeigler, a research associate and instructor in the School of Communication, was inducted into Florida State University’s Circle of Gold on April 12 prior to the football spring game.

The award, given by the FSU Alumni Association, was created in 1993 to recognize FSU alumni and friends who, through their service and achievements, personify the university’s tradition of excellence.

Zeigler graduated from Florida State’s School of Communication with a Master of Science in 1989 and has received numerous teaching awards through his career, including the 2009 University Distinguished Teacher Award.

For more than 20 years, Zeigler has taught FSU students the importance of public speaking and how to be a persuasive speaker.  Separately from the Circle of Gold honor, Florida State alumni are actively raising funds to create the Mark Zeigler Fund for Excellence in Public Speaking Education in honor of his career and contributions.

Joining Zeigler in this year’s Circle of Gold class were Chip Baker, Bruce Blackwell (B.A. ’68, J.D. ’74) and Anne Hamilton (B.S. ’79). FSU Alumni Association National Board of Directors Chairman Gordon Sprague (B.S. ’65) presided over the ceremony, which preceded the FSU Spring Game for football.
