FSU's Advertising Club and the FSU student chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) packed their bags (and resumes) and flew all the way to New York City for a week filled with networking and fun! The two clubs, though on separate trips, both spent their time in the city visiting leading advertising, marketing, and public relations agencies. They also met with alumni living in New York and even had time to stop for an authentic slice of NY pizza or two! For a full recap of their week, check out this video!
The Advertising Club brought over 70 students with them and divided them into groups centered around their main career goals. These groups visited the following companies:
-Heat
-TBWA
-R/GA
Carter Montgomery, a junior majoring in ICT, said the trip "provided a one-of-a-kind experience to network with leading professionals in my field." He really enjoyed visiting Vayner Media. "Their values were really similar to my own. I felt welcomed and inspired. The idea of working at a company like that gives me a lot of motivation going into my senior year," he says.
FPRA had 28 students join them for visits with the following public relations firms:
"The FPRA networking trips are great for learning about the industry," says Jen Vasbinder, current President of FPRA's student chapter at FSU. "We are able to see inside massive PR agencies and learn about their work, clients, office cultures, and internship programs. The New York networking trip left me inspired to pursue a career in public relations."
