On Dec. 8, 2010, two graduates of the master’s program at the School of Library & Information Studies at The Florida State University were among ten winners of the 2010 “I Love My Librarian” Awards. Alumni Paul Clark and Jeff Dowdy were chosen from more than 2,000 nominations throughout the nation. The award, administered by the American Library Association and sponsored by the Carnegie Corporation of New York and The New York Times, encourages library users to recognize the accomplishments of exceptional public, school, college, community college, or university librarians.
Clark, known as “The Library Guy” in the Florida library community, works for the Clay County Library System in Fleming Island, Florida, and used his vacation time to lobby in Tallahassee for state aid for Florida libraries. Dowdy, who is employed at the Bainbridge College Library in Bainbridge, Georgia, was nominated for his high level of customer service and technological innovation within limited resources.
Each winner received $5,000 and was honored at an award ceremony in New York City on Dec. 8. The School is very proud of our two winning alumni. Read more about their accomplishments.
