On May 21, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced the nominees for the 47th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. One of the nominees on that list includes FSU College of Communication and Information (CCI) alumna, Brianna Biancardi (‘18, B.A. Media/Communication Studies), pictured left. Brianna is the Production Coordinator at Nickelodeon and works on two Nick Jr. shows, Bubble Guppies and Butterbean’s Café. Nominated for “Outstanding Preschool Children’s Animated Series,” Bubble Guppies is the show that hit the mark.
As the Production Coordinator, Brianna’s role includes working with the talent of Bubble Guppies and composers who create the catchy pop songs that are heard throughout the show. Brianna’s typical work-week includes a number of key tasks. This includes attending all voice-over sessions, reporting to creators and producers of the show, and attending production meetings that serve to discuss current tasks and confirm awareness of deadlines. With Bubble Guppies being renewed for a fifth season, two-and-a-half years since the last episode premiered on Nickelodeon, the team is more excited than ever.
The Emmy nomination came with contributions from all members of the Bubble Guppies team. Brianna describes her love for her position by stating, “My favorite thing about my job is the work environment. I feel super comfortable with everyone on my team and enjoy going into work every day knowing I’m surrounded by such hard-working and talented people!” The team is thrilled to begin creating new episodes of Bubble Guppies, with the nomination proving how much their viewers love the show.
While her recent achievement conveys the dedication she has for her field, Brianna’s hard work didn’t start at Nickelodeon. Being a CCI alumna means years of diligence and commitment to learning. Brianna explains how her time at FSU contributed to her current success, saying, “I learned what it’s like to be a ‘team-player’ and learned how to pass on tasks to others in which I’d usually tackle on my own.” She continues, “Working on a production involves a lot of teamwork and I don’t think I could’ve succeeded as well as I have on this team without the help of Florida State.” While in her junior year at FSU, Brianna interned at Nickelodeon, allowing her to establish many connections that eventually led to her landing her current position. “This nomination further proves that I’m on the right path and I can’t describe how great that feels!”
The winners will be announced on a CBS special Friday, June 26th at 8:00 PM, EST. A full list of the Annual Daytime Emmy Awards nominees can be found here.
