FSU Double Alumna Works with 2025 NBA Champions as Social Media Content Producer

FSU double alumna, Brooke Brennan (B.S. Media & Communication Studies ‘21, M.A. Sport Management ‘22), worked with the 2025 NBA champions, the Oklahoma City (OKC) Thunder, as their Social Media Content Producer. The Thunder has had Brennan on their social media team since January 2023, when she started as their Social Media Coordinator immediately after she graduated from FSU.

“My goal after graduation was to do social media for an NBA team. To many, it was crazy, but I worked really hard at FSU to gain the experiences and skill sets needed to make this goal a reality,” Brennan said.

Since joining the OKC Thunder, Brennan has been part of numerous noteworthy experiences: the NBA Summer League, the NBA Draft, the 2023-24 NBA G-League Championship, and most remarkably, the 2024-25 NBA Finals. Brennan’s role includes capturing the team by taking photos and videos, creating and publishing content, covering events, and managing social media channels across various platforms.

Brennan shared, “Being a part of the post season and NBA Finals has led to more games and created new opportunities for me and my team to continue to be creative, cover our team and our community by telling stories, bring Thunder basketball to an even larger and global audience, and really allowed us to continue to push the envelope in all that we do.”

Although Brennan was extensively involved in her studies and on campus—working with FSU International Programs, FSU Athletics, SLAM Magazine, and the Department of Sports Management—one class specifically sparked her passion in sports media: Dr. Davis Houck’s Media, Sports, & Society class.

“From gaining hands-on experience working in social media and athletics, to learning to think critically and understand the industries on such a deep level, FSU allowed me to have those experiences, grow, learn, and get to where I am today,” Brennan said.

One thing that Brennan would like aspiring students to know is that the field of sports media is both demanding and rewarding. “There are so many skill sets needed to be successful in sports media, so use the opportunities at FSU to explore and develop those skills and experiences to set yourself up for success. If I can do it, so can you, and it’s all worth it when you love what you do.”

Looking forward, Brennan hopes to continue telling the story of the OKC Thunder through her photography, videography, and social media engagement, especially historical moments like the OKC Thunder winning the NBA Finals for the first time in over a decade.
