Waner Del Rosario is a man with a plan. He was only in high school at William H. Turner Technical Arts High School in Miami when he started his first business, Dreniam Technology Solutions. The business still thrives today, repairing and providing training for computers.
Since his graduation in 2008, Waner has used his degree in Information Technology to work as a Computer Applications Coordinator at Florida Gulf Coast University, eventually becoming a Computer Support Specialist. “My education at FSU allowed me to get a job at Florida Gulf Coast University right after graduation,” said Waner.
He moved onto the Collier County Board of Commissioners as an IT Professional until December 2012. “While my experience in Collier County was nothing short of great, I realized the long commute was taking too much time away from my family,” admitted Waner. Now, he’s working closer to home as an Information Systems Analyst within the Lee Memorial Health System.
This IT professional can be found behind the computer… but also in the cockpit of a plane. “My sisters say I’ve wanted to fly before I could walk,” he shared. In May of 2014, Waner made his dreams take flight with his Private Pilot Certificate. He credits some of his success to joining the Fort Myers Flying Club, where he serves on the Board of Directors, their webmaster and Communications Officer. Through them, he earned a flying scholarship with The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. In the future, Waner hopes to teach others to fly. “Especially introducing
young people to general aviation,” he shared.
