FSU COMMversation, the School of Communication’s first-ever podcast is now available on Spotify, Soundcloud, and Apple Podcasts.

The first edition features Susannah Wesley, an FSU Communication alumna and crisis communications expert who previously worked for American Airlines, Ford, Shell and many other Fortune 500 and Global 100 companies.

Wesley, who graduated from FSU with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies in 2005, shares her perspective on what prompted her to be interested in crisis communication and why it is so relevant today as the country faces COVID-19.

FSU COMMversation podcast highlights the School of Communication, its students, faculty, staff, and alumni, as well as different aspects of the communications industry.

The idea for the podcast stemmed from the Director’s Ambassadors team, a student-centered initiative created by Dr. Patrick Merle, School Director.

“This podcast has been a priority ever since I started as School Director on July 1,” Merle said. “Students had been asking for a podcast for a while now. So I am happy that as a school we now have an additional channel available to engage our community, exchange ideas, and discuss topics relevant to our curriculum.”

Austin Reichart, a senior majoring in Public Relations, coordinated the efforts in the production of FSU COMMversation.

“From the very start of my involvement with the Director’s Ambassadors I was extremely passionate about bringing the idea of a podcast to life,” Reichart said. “ FSU COMMversation will be a great platform to give students a voice during these unprecedented times, learn things I wish I would have known sooner, highlight our incredible alumni and show the true impact FSU’s School of Comms has on the lives and future careers of its students.”
