SLIS grad published in national teen manual

SLIS alumna Jennifer Parsick (’08) has been published in the Collaborative Summer Library Program manual for teens. Forty-nine out of 50 U.S. states, as well as some American territories, use the manual to create their summer reading programs.

“When I received my copy of the manual this morning,” Jennifer said, “I opened it and found my name in print! I’m listed as a contributor—one of 12—and in the quick look-through I had, I’ve already found three to four of my ideas.”

The former Goldstein Library graduate assistant had submitted her ideas for the 2012 teen summer reading program nearly a year ago. She was delighted to discover that she was included in the manual.

Since graduation from SLIS, Jennifer has been working as the teen services librarian with the Osceola County Library System in Kissimmee, Florida. She also writes teen book reviews for the State Library of Florida’s blog/newsletter.

The Collaborative Summer Library Program is a grassroots consortium of state systems working together to provide high-quality summer reading program materials for children at the lowest cost possible for their public libraries.
