Two CCI Women Receive 2016 Inspire Award

Two women from the College of Communication & Information were named winners of the 2016 Inspire Award. The award is being given to four women of distinction in total and will be presented at a ceremony in NYC.

Nancy McKay (B.S. ’78) received a double major in Organizational Communication and Government from FSU. She also participated on FSU’s debate team for three years as a student. Currently, she is the CEO for NEST Fragrances, a boutique fragrance company based in New York City. She has also worked with Estee Lauder and Clinique. She has led fundraising teams for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation under The Estee Lauder Companies and helped generate over one million dollars through the sale of pink ribbon products. She also mentors with the FIT Graduate Program in Cosmetics & Toiletries, serves on the Board of Directors of The Father’s Day/Mother’s Day Council and is on FSU’s Board of College of Human Sciences.

Maura Hayes (B.A. ’82) earned a degree in Radio and TV Broadcasting from FSU. Today, she works for the Walt Disney Company as the Director of Operations at their Time Square Studios. She also oversees the company’s corporate headquarters facilities operations. She has worked with Disney for 35 years, and performed in parades and as a stuntwoman for them before transitioning into the film and television department there. Additionally, she serves on the Lincoln Square Business Improvement Board, is a member of the Alliance for Women and Media and is a director on the FSU Alumni Association National Board. She has also been honored by the Kappa Delta National Sorority as a Women of Achievement for inspiring young women through her success in career and community.
