CCI Spring Career and Internship Fair Recap

Career Fair 1The Spring Career and Internship Fair at the College of Communication and Information occurred on Tuesday, February 4 and featured over 30 employers from local communication and technology sectors. Different from the University’s career fair (Seminole Futures), CCI’s focus is on featuring local employers that offer internships and full-time employment in the School of Communication (advertising, media communication, digital media production, PR) and the iSchool (information technology and ICT). Many of the recruiters are actually alumni of CCI coming home to recruit the next wave of Seminole talent.

Career Source Capital Region participated in the event and offered internships in social media and digital marketing. Career Source’s Digital Marketing Strategist, Carrine Anaeto, was eager to meet FSU’s talented students. “The CCI Career and Internship Fair is beneficial for us because before, all we had was a diluted pool of talent from sites like InDeed and Handshake. Coming to CCI where the focus is on students directly in this field makes it easy for us to find qualified candidates that are passionate and know exactly what they are looking for. This allows us to tailor positions to their strengths to make the internship a win-win.”

CCI’s Development Coordinator, Betsy Crawford, loves how the Career Fair keeps students connected to the college beyond graduation. “Each year alumni of our programs return as employers to recruit—they understand and value the focused skills of our students,” she explains. “The CCI Career Fair is also a unique opportunity for our current students to meet with company representatives offering internships and jobs that align with their career goals and interests.”

Derek Labios is a senior majoring in Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT). He spent his time at the event speaking with companies looking for full-time positions in the world of technology. “At other career fairs, it can be quite intimidating because of how large-scale they are,” he says. “The CCI Career and Internship Fair gives students the chance to grow with local Tallahassee companies. The event focuses on CCI so students have an easier time finding a perfect fit with a company.”
