Each year, Leadership Awards Night is recognizes students, faculty, staff, and organizations that have epitomized the definition of leadership by their exemplary contributions to the Florida State University community through achievement, service, or organizational leadership involvement.
From the College of Communication and Information, five students were honored for their contributions to the university and beyond.
Brendan Rempert, Media Communication Studies student, was recognized as the FSU President’s Humanitarian of the Year Award for 2016, a prestigious award that recognizes students who exhibit a tremendous commitment to service. During the Summer of 2015, Brendan traveled to the Pamohi Village in India to research the impacts of voluntourism on small villages.
Amanda Romagnolo, Communication Science and Disorders student, was recognized with CCI Academic Leadership Award by Provost Dr. Sally McRorie.
Victoria Toraya, Media Communication Studies student, was recognized with a Dean’s Cup Award by the Dean of Students office, which is given to students who have demonstrated a strong sense of commitment to the Seminole Creed: Truthfulness, Respect, Excellence, Freedom of Speech and Inquiry, Diversity, Justice, Citizenship, and Discovery. Victoria works with the Center for Leadership and Social Change and has served Florida State as an orientation leader.
Casey Jones, Media Communication Studies student, was recognized with Student Seminole Award, which is awarded to students who have made special contributions to the University through leadership and service. Casey is involved with campus radio station V89, the Center for Leadership and Social Change, as well as the Alternative Spring Break program.
Qaree Dreher, Public Relations student, received the Student Seminole Award.
