FSU’s Radio Station V89 In Need of Funding

V89 Pledge Drive Well Underway “The Voice of Florida State” also known as “V89” is hosting its Quadrennial Pledge Drive now through April 15th. V89 is a campus-run public radio station that operates all day, all year. Volunteers from our campus and community are dedicated to providing listeners with diverse music, news, sports, and entertainment programming. Not only does V89 provide quality broadcasting services, it also offers hands-on training for anyone interested in radio station operations.

V89 also works with the College Music Journal (a publication that covers college and noncommercial radio stations) reporting weekly on the national college radio charts. In 2014, V89 was awarded the “Biggest Improvement Award” in response to the new and improved wvfs.fsu.edu. Here, you can find information on local concerts, read music reviews, and listen to V89 live.

Recent budget cuts have left daily operating costs in a difficult place, though, so V89 needs your help to ensure it stays in operation. Donors can log into wvfs.fsu.edu to contribute online, and there’s even exclusive merchandise offered to donors who contribute a designated amount.

The pledge drive will wrap up Friday, April 15th at the SideBar Theatre on Railroad Avenue starting at 9pm. Current and past V89 DJs will be there to keep the party rolling. It’s free for all students and open to the public, so bring your friends!

The goal is to raise $30,000 for V89, and they’re nearly at $9,000 as of today. Help keep V89 going and contribute today!
