  1. What was your first job? 
    When I was sixteen I worked for Carte Blanche (a credit card company that no longer exists).
  2. If you were to write a personal memoir, what would you name it? 
    My Life with Books.
  3. Where did you grow up? 
    Los Angeles, CA
  4. What is your favorite class you’ve taught?
    I love all my classes!
  5. What is your favorite place to grab dinner in Tallahassee?
    Nefertari’s
  6. What are your hobbies outside of work? 
    Sewing, gardening, cooking, reading, writing.
  7. Have you always wanted to teach? 
    No. Once upon a time I wanted to be a poet.
  8. What is your favorite place you’ve traveled to or where would you like to go?
    One of my favorite places to go is Italy.
  9. How many football games have you attended? 
    Very few. I’m not much for crowds.
  10. Proudest career/life moment?
    Receiving the 2001 American Association of University Women Recognition Award for Emerging Scholars (representing Florida State University).
  11. What’s your favorite band? 
    Zap Mama
  12. What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? 
    Better to assume incompetence than maliciousness in people.
  13. If money were no object, how would you spend your days? 
    Pretty much the way I do.
  14. What is your favorite book and why? 
    This is such a hard question! There are so many books that are important to me. A recent book I was very taken with is Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein. It is a work of fiction about a couple of young women, one a pilot and one an intelligence worker, during WWII. The writing and the way the story is told are both incredible.
  15. If you could be famous for something, what would it be? 
    Wait a minute! I am a famous LIS educator. Pass it around.
  16. What Jeopardy category could you clear, no problem? 
    Quilt blocks.
  17. Do you have any pets? 
    Not right now. My dog, who was quite old, passed a couple of years ago and I’m just not ready for a new pet.
  18. When did you start working at Florida State University? 
    August 1999.
  19. What was the last movie you saw in theaters?
    Birdman.
  20. What is the best part about your job? 
    I get to do things I like to do and prepare future information professionals.
