The School of Information Studies at The Florida State University invites applications for the position of Associate Librarian at the Harold Goldstein Library. The Goldstein library provides materials, services, and facilities to support the teaching, research, and service of the School of Information Studies and the University. As a laboratory for the School, the Goldstein Library is active in the professional development of students and the dissemination of the teaching library concept to University and national audiences.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school and appropriate experience as a professional librarian.
Evidence of professional growth through publication, association activities, or other contributions to the field.

Job Summary: The Associate Librarian is responsible for management and administration of the Goldstein Library, including the supervision of library staff, graduate assistants, and independent study students; teaching the Information Service Practicum for the School; and representing the library on University and School committees.

Further Responsibilities Include:
Library administration, planning, and evaluation
Library technology planning, implementation, and assessment
Collection Development, analysis, and reporting of library statistics
Experiential library education
Service on committees and professional associations
Library outreach and marketing
Grant writing and other fund raising activities

The School of Information Studies

Over the last four years external funding awarded to the School has increased 55%.

The faculty comprises 35 dynamic, interdisciplinary, award-winning, and internationally recognized individuals, active in teaching, research, and service in an innovative school. Bachelor’s, Master’s, and specialist degrees are offered on and off campus via the WWW. The Ph.D. is offered as an on-campus degree. The School currently enrolls 615 undergraduates, 471 master’s, 30 specialist, and 50 doctoral students.
