April 27th marked the annual Faculty Awards Dinner. During the dinner, a wide variety of awards are given to professors. Two CCI professors, Marcia Mardis and Kaitlin Lansford, were awarded at this dinner.
The Developing Scholar Award was awarded to Marcia Mardis and recognizes mid-career associate professors who have been singled out by their peers. The award is based upon an evaluation of Mardis’ scholarly activities at Florida State University. The award program was created to recognize scholarly activity in FSU faculty who are several years advanced into their careers. The award also aims to stimulate additional development of quality programs at Florida State. Peers within and beyond FSU nominated Mardis for this award.The award includes a $10,000 stipend to be used in their research program.
The Undergraduate Teaching Award was awarded to Kaitlin Lansford and recognizes faculty members for excellence in undergraduate teaching. The student-oriented award is nominated by students and alumni and requires outstanding teaching that contributes to successful learning.
