Laura-Kate Huse – School of Communication
Laura-Kate Huse is a current doctoral student in the School of Communication. During her time at FSU, she helped to create and chair the FSU Qualitative Poster Symposium on a team of faculty and students. Additionally, she served as the National Communication Association Graduate Student Representative for the Health Communication Division and the Applied Communication Division. Laura-Kate has also served as a peer mentor for doctoral students and taught classes as a lead instructor, teaching assistant, and guest lecturer, in addition to serving as a research associate for the PEAKS lab at FSU.
“I am very grateful to the FSU Leadership Board for supporting students like myself. Particularly during these uncertain and unprecedented times, having alumni supporting current FSU students makes us feel encouraged and seen,” said Huse. “I will be attending the National Communication Association this November in Seattle thanks to the aid of the Leadership Board.”
Laura-Kate recently defended her PhD dissertation, and plans to continue her work after graduation. She told CCI, “My time at FSU has provided many wonderful experiences, including opportunities for leadership. Each experience has helped me grow to be a service-oriented leader. Now that I have successfully defended my PhD dissertation, I will continue advocating for positive social change and creating spaces in which a plurality of voices can exist and be recognized.”
