Linda Most, a doctoral candidate at The Florida State University College of Information, has been awarded the Norman Horrocks Leadership Award from the Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE). Each year ALISE recognizes one new member who has demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities in its professional activities. ALISE is "a non-profit organization that serves as the intellectual home of university faculty in graduate programs in library and information science in North America. "
Linda joined ALISE late in 2004, as she began her doctoral studies at FSU. She became active in the organization soon after joining, serving on the 2006 doctoral student recruitment initiative. In 2007 she became co-convener of the Doctoral Student Special Interest Group and was the convener for 2008. She co-chaired the 2008 ALISE/Jean Tague Sutcliffe Doctoral Student Research Poster Competition with Professor Wally Koehler of Valdosta State.
Linda Mosts doctoral research focuses on "the library as place." Her study looks at how a predominantly African American and blue collar rural community uses the public spaces provided by its library system.
