Dr. Arthur Raney, James E. Kirk Professor of Communication and Director of Doctoral Studies in the School of Communication, and Dr. Mary Beth Oliver, Professor and Co-Director of Media Effects Research Laboratory in the College of Communications at Penn State University, have been selected to edit a special issue of the Journal of Communication (JOC). The topic for the special issue is “Expanding the Boundaries of Research on Entertainment.” It is scheduled for publication in 2014.
Entertainment research has represented a central area of study among many communication and media-psychology scholars over the last several decades. The purpose of the Journal’s special issue is to showcase a growing amount of findings that shed light on our understanding of this subject. Shared insights will help explain the role that entertainment plays in the lives of many individuals.
