Q: How do you feel about winning this award?

A: I am honored to have won the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award. Mentoring graduate students is one of the best parts of being a professor.

Q: What do you attribute this award to?

A: I try to provide students opportunities to think critically, to question their assumptions, and to study topics that are important to them. I help students through each part of the research process, providing extensive feedback and encouragement.

Q: What have you found to be a good teaching approach that you could recommend to a new faculty or recently graduated doctoral student?

A: Whether students plan to continue their education, obtain an academic position, or enter the workforce, being able to conduct meaningful research and write a clear, logical, and concise paper, thesis, or dissertation are skills that will serve them well.
