Article written by Emma Bonney.

iSchool doctoral student Lateef Ayinde recently shared his work with the EBSI-SIS Symposium in Information Sciences.

The paper, titled, “The state of Open Government Data in Nigeria: Evaluation of the Government Website,” is a study that seeks to understand the state of the Open Government Data initiative in Nigeria by evaluating Nigeria’s Open Government Data Portals (OGDs). Ayinde analyzed OGDs for eight weeks in order to form the basis for his research. Ayinde told CCI that the initial inspiration for this paper came from working with Dr. Chris Hinnant of the FSU iSchool. It is still in the exploratory stages, but Ayinde hopes to publish it in an academic journal soon.

Ayinde obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Delta State University in Nigeria. Additionally, he holds a Master’s in Information Science from the University of Ibadan. Ayinde is currently working towards the completion of his PhD in Information Science. He told CCI that his long-term goals include becoming a world-renowned researcher and a professor at a world-class university.
