Eight MCS students elected in Phi Beta Kappa Spring 2015 class

Eight Florida State University Media and Communication Studies (MCS) students have been elected in Phi Beta Kappa’s Spring 2015 class.

The Phi Beta Kappa society was first established at the College of William and Mary, in Williamsburg, Virginia during the American Revolution. The honor society strives to promote scholarship and tradition in the liberal arts and sciences–through a code of laws, Greek and Latin mottoes and a badge of honor. Over half a million students around the country are chapter members at 276 universities. The Alpha of Florida Chapter at FSU invites guest speakers of varying academic backgrounds to present at seminars and attend member socials.

The honors society actively involves professors, who contribute and participate in member events and activities.

CCI juniors Mariana Alves and Mary Kate Downing have been awarded entry to the society, as well as 6 CCI seniors, Andi Ligget, Mary Matella, Erin Owens, Devin Savedra, Michelle-Taylor Sherwin and Lily Zawatsky.
