Recently, a manuscript co-authored by School of Communication Science and Disorders doctoral students Victor Lugo and Miguel Garcia-Salas as well as professor Dr. Carla Wood and University of Florida Professor Dr. Wayne McCormack was accepted for publication in the journal Teaching and Learning in Communication Science and Disorders.
This project, “A Team Science Training Approach to Enhance Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration in Communication Science and Disorders Programs,” began in the summer of 2022 and describes the components and results of a cross-disciplinary team science training that was provided to 17 doctoral scholars across the fields of communication science and disorders, education, psychology, and social work. This training aimed to prepare pre-service leaders to collaborate with other researchers from different disciplinary backgrounds.
Co-author Miguel Garcia-Salas explained further saying, “We hope that other communication science and disorder programs can use the manuscript in the development and provision of their own team science trainings and that those trainings can help scholars engage in meaningful and impactful cross-disciplinary teams.”
