Although the Goldstein Library will be closed most of spring semester 2010 and the collections housed there unavailable, faculty and staff at The Florida State University have several options to obtain materials they need from other sources.
“We recommend students go to the local public library or use the inter-library loan service,” said Goldstein Librarian Pamala Doffek. “All FSU students are entitled to use the public libraries in town. They just need to show proof they live in Leon County in order to get a library card.”
She advised students who live on campus to take a copy of their dorm agreement with them, along with their student ID cards. Students and faculty who live off campus will need to take proof of residence, such as a utility bill or voter registration card.
When using the inter-library loan service, writing “Goldstein collection unavailable” in the comment section will speed processing of the request.
Ms. Doffek said she and Librarian Leila Gibradze will be available through e-mail, as well as checking messages left on the Goldstein’s telephone line, 850-644-1803.
Anyone who has checked out materials from Goldstein should return them to the Strozier Library by the due date.
The library is expected to be closed until around Feb. 15, 2010, while a new heat and air-conditioning system is installed in the Louis Shores Building.
