Thirteen CCI Students Inducted Into The Garnet and Gold Scholar Society

The Garnet and Gold Scholar Society (GGSS) inducted thirteen students from the College of Communication and Information this spring.

The Garnet and Gold Scholar Society honors students who excel both academically and professionally. GGSS membership offers substantial support for students’ future endeavors.

Allison Matula, a student in Communication Science and Disorders, said, “Being a Garnet and Gold Scholar inspired me to be involved in educational opportunities outside of the classroom, sparking a passion for experiential learning. From conducting research in the General Curriculum Access Lab and HEAR Lab, to studying Communication Science and Disorders in London and participating in humanitarian audiology trips to Guatemala, each experience has enriched my education and made my time at Florida State unforgettable!”

Aiven Davis, a Digital Media Production student, said, “Being inducted to the Garnet and Gold Scholar Society meant a lot to me as it gave me the opportunity to be acknowledged for the work I do outside of my coursework. While I value my education tremendously, I see the additional experiences I’ve had recognized through the Garnet and Gold Scholar Society as truly formative in understanding what I want to pursue and who I am as a person.”. Elizabeth Schutte, a dual major in Public Relations and Spanish echoed these sentiments, saying,  “The Garnet and Gold Scholar Society enriched my time at FSU by encouraging me to be more fully engaged with my experiences in research, internships and studying abroad through the university.”

From the School of Information, Communication and Technology, Christina Conenna added, “Being a Garnet and Gold Scholar significantly impacted my college career. The program invited me to explore various opportunities, inspiring an adventurous mindset and active involvement within the FSU community. From hosting leadership workshops to studying abroad, I learned about my passions, developed amazing connections, and participated in awe-inspiring experiences.”
