In October 2006, the College of Information’s ALA Student Chapter will participate in the
first ever Theological Libraries Month.
“Some have said that any day now, online resources will completely replace the library,”
says Goldstein Librarian Pamala Doffek. “It’s not happening here at the Goldstein
Library; it’s not happening anywhere.” Doctoral student T. Patrick Milas agreed, saying,
“that’s why the American Theological Library Association (ATLA) is launching this special
month, to highlight the vital role library services play in the life of graduate research
institutions.”
“Far from being obsolete, theological libraries are at their patrons’ service, offering
more than they imagine,” says Barbara Kemmis, ATLA director of member services. “More
Than You Imagane” is the theme for 2006 Theological Libraries Month, which the ALA
Student Chapter is celebrating by having T. Patrick Milas share his experience with and
the importance of theological librarianship.
Milas, an ATLA member himself, will address the ALA Student Chapter at their next weekly
meeting on Oct. 10, 2006 at 4:30PM. Coffee, tea and other refreshments will be served
from 4PM to 5:30PM. Non-members and new students are encouraged to attend! ”
