David Jones, who received a master of library and information studies degree from the Florida State University College of Information in 1998, has been appointed director of the Carl S. Swisher Library at Jacksonville University (JU). A March 27 press release from the university stated:
Jones joined the faculty at JU in 1988 as an instructor-librarian. His duties since then have included management of periodicals (1988-1990), government documents (1988-1994), public services (1994-2000; 2005-2007) and electronic resources (2000-2007). Jones also served as an adjunct professor of English Composition from 1998 to 2007 and mentored students in the Freshmen Experience class (JU 101) for five years. He was appointed interim director of the library in 2008.
The appointment will become effective July 1.
