Dr. Dianne Oberg, professor at the University of Alberta, Canada, presents a research colloquium, “What makes a quality online library education program?,” on Nov. 2, 2011, 12:30–1:30 p.m., Room 206, Louis Shores Building. Lunch will be provided.
Hosted by the PALM Center (Partnerships Advancing Library) of the School of Library & Information Studies at The Florida State University, Dr. Oberg will report preliminary findings from her research of online graduate-level programs in school library education from the perspectives of library educators in Australia, Canada and the U.S.
Oberg was an early adopter of online graduate-level library education at the University of Alberta. Since 1996, her team has increased the size of their program from under five local students to over 80 students worldwide. Research about the program and its development has been widely disseminated by Oberg and by her colleague Dr. Jennifer Branch, most recently in the book, “Cases on Building Quality Distance Delivery Programs: Strategies and Experiences” (IGI Global, 2011).
