Intern FSU Position Description:

The FSU Student Veterans Center serves as a central resource for active and former members of the U.S. military including active duty personnel, National Guard and Reserve members, military veterans, and veteran alumni. By fostering a veteran friendly and empowering campus culture, Florida State University has developed a national reputation as a beacon of veteran support and success.

The Communications and Events internship at the Student Veterans Center contributes to the development and management of the SVC brand through its social media, web presence and veteran-centered events.

Through direct involvement in nearly every facet of the SVC’s communication and event activities – including its social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram), website (Drupel), and nearly 3 dozen events each year – the Communications and Events intern will engage with various internal and external constituencies of this multifaceted, student-support organization.

Reporting to the SVC Communication and Marketing Manager, the intern will (1) assist in raising general awareness of the University’s veteran initiatives and services, 2) develop social media posts that generate engagements, (3) recommend strategy and creative approaches for activities event executions, (4) contribute to SVC web, text and email communications, and (5) develop messaging and accompanying graphics in support of project objectives.

Learning Outcomes: 

Expected outcomes cultivated through this internship include (1) experience in social media and website maintenance, (2) hands-on knowledge of event planning and implementation, (3) enhanced written and verbal communication skills, and (4) a solid understanding of the formation and development of strategies and work plans for a service-focused organization.


Candidates should preferably have strong writing and verbal skills and experience in event planning, customer service or graphic design.
