Communication Intern (Unpaid) @ STEM4Girls

STEMS4Girls, Inc https://stems4girlsfl.org/ is currently looking for an ambitious intern who is interested in writing about social issues impacting the STEMS learning gap and the community of underserved communities.  

Purpose: Seeking a communications major with relevant digital and media communications skills and strong work ethics to join our communications team as an external media communicator.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in marketing, communications, journalism, business, or a related field.
  • The ability to create and generate visual and written engaging content that illustrates the positive work STEMS4Girls is doing in the Leon County community to prepare our youth, especially, girls to pursue STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) careers.
  • Knowledge of media and digital publishing tools such as Canva, Adobe Spark, or similar platforms.
  • Must be willing to do the research to understand the policies and initiatives that influence STEM education and careers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Willingness to take the initiative and contribute ideas that will give our organization presence in STEM Afterschool literature
  • Enjoy working as a team member and working with children.
  • Provide monthly written reports to management team.

The person in this role will gain valuable hands-on experience and network with a variety of professionals in key communications roles in local, state and national organizations. As well as, contribute to the mission of a growing nonprofit STEM afterschool program. In addition to developing skills in content design using a variety of tools and interacting with the youth.

Hours: Minimum 6 hours a week (depending upon completion of the project)

Duration: Minimum of 3 months

Location: 70% remote
