Communication Internship

The Florida State University Career Center is seeking communications interns with excellent writing, marketing, visual, and/or digital media production skills to assist with increasing the Center’s visibility among students and employers.
The internship will require a 7 to 18 hour per week commitment and may be completed during the Summer C (June 27-August 5), Fall 2011, or Spring 2012 semester. The internship is unpaid, but benefits include academic internship credit, relevant experience, and positive referrals upon successful completion.

We have space for up to three interns, and are *especially* interested in…
1) an intern with copywriting skills who can write press releases and has knowledge of AP writing style,
2) an intern with excellent photography and video production skills who can produce, shoot, and edit short videos of Career Center events,
3) an intern with advertising and social media experience who can help with creating and implementing strategic marketing plans, and
4) an intern with graphic design or advertising creative strategy experience who has basic proficiency with using Adobe CS3 programs including Photoshop and Indesign.

Other duties may include:
• Designing and distributing promotional materials
• Developing content for the Career Center website and its social media platforms
• Compiling Career Center success stories and student feedback
• Shooting photos at events and/or compiling video production projects
• Assisting with event promotions’ strategic planning and logistics
• Tracking media hits and assessing where students acquire their information about the Career Center

Expectations:
We expect our interns to learn while they work with us – this is a “hands-on” internship where students will apply their existing skills, as well as learn new ones. Students MUST take internship credit hours, as approved by their academic advisors, and are responsible for the completion of all relevant paperwork.
