Digital Content Creator Intern @ FAMU-FSU College of Engineering

Position Description: FAMU-FSU College of Engineering is looking for a Digital Content Creator Intern to assist with organizational activities both within and outside of the Engineering campus. The Digital Content Creator Intern will work directly with the Marketing & Communications Director, Social Media Coordinator and Event Coordinator in the Marketing + Communications department to produce digital content for inbound and outbound marketing communications. This role will work with the marketing and creative teams to create video and photo content to help grow brand awareness and engagement. As this position assists in a variety of digital channels it is a great way to learn about different areas of marketing.

About FAMU-FSU Engineering: The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, established by the Florida Legislature in 1983, is the joint engineering school for Florida A&M and Florida State universities, the only shared college of engineering in the nation. We are located less than three miles from each campus. Our students enroll (and graduate) as Seminoles or Rattlers and start their college experience on the home campus. Once prerequisites are complete, they learn together at our engineering building.

Responsibilities:

  • Working in a team-oriented and collaborative environment
  • Assist with social media efforts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Snap, Tik Tok) for the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering
  • Creating digital video content for our social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Snap, Tik Tok) and websites
  • Research, strategize, and advise areas on the social media content landscape ranging from current trends to universal best practices
  • Produce, film, write, edit, and post content for our websites and social platforms as digital ambassadors for the college. Produce a minimum of one video project for each platform due each week.
  • Help execute the college’s social media strategy across all platforms to increase followers, viewers, and creative content
  • Brainstorm creative and innovative ways to engage with customers and owners
  • Track and log content analytics
  • Digital asset management of media, photographs, images, and iconography
  • On-Location photography and videography fabrication and installations
  • Optimizing content as needed (File Size, formatting for websites/ social)
  • Upload content (Raw files, working files, finished files) into One Drive

 

Qualifications: Applicants must be enrolled as students at Florida State University or Florida A&M University for the duration of their employment. Successful applicants must demonstrate the following skills and abilities:

  • Must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average
  • Portfolio with work samples (Reel/ Photography Samples)
  • Demonstrated team player interested in working in partnership with a small team and 1:1 with another person on all projects
  • Strong interest in the web, mobile, and social media
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivation, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn
  • Ability and comfort with delivering large volume of tasks under tight timing constraints
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; meet deadlines and work as part of a team
  • Photography/videography capability as well as copywriting and editing skills
  • Ability to identify the style or desired style within our industry and meet/ excel expectations of created content
  • Proficient in digital graphics and publishing software (Adobe Creative Cloud, Hootsuite, etc.)

 

Must have own transportation to/from the College of Engineering campus at 2525 Pottsdamer Street, Tallahassee. (Bus routes are available.)

Schedule: 15-20 hours a week; shifts Monday-Friday between 9 am – 5 pm based on availability

Pay Rate: $15-20/hour, based on experience. This is a university OPS position.
