Internship Duties
The Florida Virtual Campus Intern program invites undergraduate or graduate students to gain experience with digital collections and compliance procedures across the state. Working under the direction of the Director of Digital Services and Open Education Resources (DS+OER), this internship will work on updating FLVC Digital Services and OER platforms in accordance of The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. Applicants should be knowledgeable of the laws and standards of ADA in order to provide recommendations for improvements to FLVC Digital Services and OER platforms. United States citizens currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate school are invited to apply for consideration.
To support FLVC’s continued commitment to accessibility for all, the selected candidate will work with DS+OER unit in creating ADA compliance and user friendly products and services with focus on improved accessibility. Together with DS+OER staff the candidate will provide recommendations to update the production environments to the new Title II regulations of ADA, such as improvements in design and usability to aid the visibility and engagement within our current FLVC Digital Services and OER platforms using the new ADA rules. The candidate will produce a final report that details their feedback and recommendations.
· Conduct an audit of the current FLVC Digital Services and OER platforms to identify areas that do not meet the updated Title II ADA regulations using assistive technologies such as screen readers, voice recognition software, and keyboard navigation.
· Suggest modifications in site design, formatting, and user interface to improve accessibility.
· Assist in updating accessibility-related documentation for users and DS+OER staff.
· Provide a final report that details their activities along with any feedback and recommendations
