Company Description:
The Wakulla County Historical Society (WCHS) was founded to collect, preserve, exhibit and interpret the heritage of Wakulla County and the surrounding area. We are located at the Wakulla County Museum and Archives in Crawfordville, Florida. Our total volunteer staff strives to gather and catalog our local history. The museum houses the genealogy library, exhibit rooms, research areas, and gift shop. The museum tours and assistance in genealogy and historical research are offered to the public at no cost.
Internship Position: This is an unpaid Volunteer/Intern position for 1 to 2 persons.
The Society currently has a website at wakullahistory.org. This webpage is used for research, public announcements, and membership information.
Job Description:
The current WCHS website was developed on the Google classic site design platform. Starting on September 1, 2021, classic sites will automatically archive. We are looking for interns to help us convert our highly data driven site to a new design platform. Interns will work with WCHS IT committee to design a site that will user friendly and appeal to our clientele.
Description of Duties/Responsibilities:
• Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles
• Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and select style and size of type
• Discuss and determine layout design
• Maintain archive of images, photos, or previous work products
• Keep up to date on the most effective ways to market non-profits
• Instruct volunteers on how to update databases on research pages
• Integrate site with social media for easy update by museum staff
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in the field of Graphic Design/Digital Design. Strong experience with computer skills related to graphic design such as Windows NT, Adobe Illustrator, Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and/or other applicable software.
