Internship Opportunities Current available position: Special Projects Intern

The Holocaust Education Resource Council (HERC) is a Florida Department of Education Commissioners Task Force on Holocaust Education site that provides learning opportunities for school districts to implement and meet the 1994 Florida legislative mandate. HERC was established with the mission of creating education programs for teachers, students, and the community.

The special projects intern will work with HERC Board members and provide varying administrative support. The intern will receive instructions regarding projects and expected to complete projects in a timely manner. The HERC provides opportunities to expand knowledge and skills pertaining to Holocaust education, social media for non-profits, exhibit management, and local government. Experience working in Holocaust studies ensures positive character development and an understanding of good citizenship.

 

Responsibility: Reports to Executive Director

Duration: One or two semesters

Schedule: approximately 10 hours/week

Specific Duties:

Holocaust Learning Trunks Project

  • Assist in coordinating 2 trunks for schools/organizations in the Tallahassee area
  • Become familiar with the educational materials included in the trunk contents
  • Assist in packing and organizing educational materials into trunks prior to distribution
  • Develop promotional materials

Social Media and website

  • Manage timeline posts on Facebook
  • Manage contact lists for e-newsletter mailings through MailChimp
  • Correlate posting of news and events as they appear on official HERC website

Administrative and other support

  • Update Membership Directory with contact information
