LOCATION: Tallahassee, FL

STATUS:5 hrs / Week

EDUCATION: Sophomore or Junior Level preferred

HaveUHeard is an online blog and guide for parents looking to get to know their student’s University and surrounding community. It will be a place to post questions, get recommendations and be on the inside track to everything you need to know about life on and off campus. It is meant to give you a real perspective from IRL parents and students. We are looking for a marketing intern to help grow our followers, engage and retain them, and convert them into customers, active fans and promoters of our company. Ideal candidates will have command of best practices and trends in social media marketing, enjoy being creative, and understand how to both build and convert a digital audience.


  • Assist in manage the company’s social media profiles and presence, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, and potentially additional channels
  • Create original, shareable content appropriate for specific networks
  • Listen and engage in relevant social discussion about our company, competitors, and/or industry, both from existing customers and from brand new audiences
  • Research topics for new blogs. This will entail surveying other students
  • Write blogs for the FSU blog page.
  • Explore new ways to engage and new social networks to reach our target buyers. 


  • Must be extremely detail oriented with strong attention to follow-through
  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
  • Flexible in work functions and duties
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • PC proficiency and strong skills in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PPT, Excel), Social Media Channels (Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, etc.) and Google Drive are essential
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA


20% of internship devoted to:

  • Educating parents and students on campus about the Have U Heard platform. Distribute promotional materials
  • Generating content for weekly social media content for posting.
  • Engaging with parents/students on various social media platforms.

20% of internship devoted to a command of best practices and trends in social media marketing.

  • Paying attention to social trends.
  • Using algorithms to generate the highest possible number of likes.
  • Learning use of keywords for Facebook, Instagram & Pinterest to increase follow, likes, views

20% of internship devoted to researching topics for new blog posts.

The steps in the process will include:

  • Surveying fellow students
  • Speaking with University representatives
  • Using University Official Calendar for important college cycle events (ex. Drop/Add; Financial Aid, Career Fairs)
  • Personal connections to University representatives

20% of internship devoted to listening to and engaging with students and parents

  • Communicating with students and parents in person as well as on social media (Facebook student groups, Instagram) and through University tabling opportunities

20% of internship devoted to writing and editing blogs

The steps in the process will include:

  • Researching topics and information relevant to the assigned blog post.
  • Consulting with students on campus.
  • Contacting business and various resources on and off campus
