Title: Systems Administration Intern

Location: Tallahassee, FL

Purpose: TRS is a DoD government contractor and handles sensitive information (FOUO) and requires sound IT security as required by federal guidelines.  The purpose of this position is to create more streamlined procedures for the company’s internal processes and be more proactive in assessing needs.

Requirements: Candidates for this Internship will be a current university student in good standing with the university, at least a 3.25 GPA, a US Citizen (as required by our contracts) and have experience with the following: systems administration, hardware such as servers/PCs/cloud based storage/storage devices, security/information assurance and a clean criminal history.  Candidates with a current or previous Secret Clearance are a plus.  Veterans with experience in DoD networks/systems are preferred.  This position will be successful with 10-15 hours per week of onsite time.  Candidates who have taken classes in the following areas will be more successful:

  • LIS 4482 Managing Networks and Telecommunications
  • LIS 4774 Information Security
  • LIS 4488 Network Administration

Job Requirements:  This position will work with upper management to take current network and systems architecture diagrams and maintain current systems.  This person will also recommend new processes, technologies or tools to implement which will provide a strong ROI and increase security for our systems.  Down time is not an option, so time management for upgrades or system changes must be scheduled in advance.  This person will be required to understand certain aspects of the NISPOM regarding security reporting requirements and interfacing with DSS Representatives for reporting attempted systems breaches or intrusions.  This Internship will require a criminal history background check, drug screen and NDA before starting the internship.
