Funded by the Tourist Development Tax generated from overnight visitors in Leon County, Visit Tallahassee promotes the region as a premier destination for leisure travel, sports tourism, meetings, and special events.
Through strategic marketing initiatives and industry partnerships, Visit Tallahassee works to attract visitors from across the country and around the world, generating positive economic impact for the community. Position Summary
Visit Tallahassee is seeking a creative, motivated Marketing Intern to support our marketing team in promoting Tallahassee as a vibrant and competitive destination. This role offers hands-on experience across digital marketing, content creation, and event activation within the tourism and sports industries.
The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller, social media savvy, and eager to gain real-world experience in destination marketing.
Key Responsibilities
• Social Media Management
o Assist in managing and creating content for Visit Tallahassee’s sports and meetings social media channels
o Draft captions, schedule posts, and monitor engagement
o Identify trends and contribute creative ideas for campaigns and content series
• Content Development
o Write blog posts, website content, and curated itineraries that align with marketing campaigns
o Support storytelling efforts that highlight Tallahassee’s unique experiences, partners, and events
• Creative Support
o Develop basic graphics and short-form video content using tools such as Canva and CapCut for digital and social platforms
• Event & Activation Support
o Assist with in-market activations, events, and promotional initiatives
o Represent Visit Tallahassee at community events, including tabling and visitor engagement
• Visitor Services Support
o Provide support during tabling opportunities and assist with distributing visitor information and materials
o Serve as a friendly and knowledgeable ambassador for the destination
Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in a program in Marketing, Communications, Tourism, Hospitality, or a related field
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn)
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, CapCut, or similar content creation tools
• Passion for marketing and interest in tourism, sports, events, or destination marketing
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills
• Basic photography and/or videography skills
• Experience writing blogs or long-form content
• Familiarity with social media analytics or scheduling tools
