Responsibilities

The Communication and Digital Media Coordinator assists Alumni Association departments with writing, editing, design, and communication strategy. Reporting to the Director of Communication, this position plays an integral role on the Communication Team collaborating with staff on an integrated marketing strategy promoting events, awards, scholarship stories, board highlights, and overall alumni engagement across various platforms.

Oversees digital communication including social media for seven Alumni Association platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Flickr. Manages a robust and innovative social media calendar and reports on data analytics of e-communication and digital outreach. Oversees the Alumni Association monthly e-newsletter and other e-communication as needed. Researches industry and institutional best-practices to help inform annual calendar and marketing plan.

Supports member acquisition and retention initiatives by providing copy and social media support. Actively pursues FSU interest stories that bring pride to the university through google and social media alerts or other methods. Works collaboratively with school, college and unit colleagues to keep them informed of their alumni.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to write and/or proofread and edit written word and/or information in various formats.

Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.

Knowledge of current media technology and trends.

Skill in analyzing and determining the most appropriate media for creation of graphic images.

Ability to plan, implement, and direct photography, graphics, and audio/visual associated operations.

Knowledge of web design and development.

Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions.

Experience in graphic and multimedia design with the following applications and utilities on a Macintosh computer:
Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Pagemaker, Adobe Premiere, Microsoft Office, SharePoint and more.

Ability to perform assigned responsibilities with minimal to moderate supervision.

Ability to demonstrate critical thinking based upon in-depth data, substantiating information, considering and respecting others’ input personal values, and ethics.

A valid Florida or Georgia driver’s license or the ability to obtain one

Pay Plan

This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.

Schedule

If not otherwise specified, schedule is M-F, 8-5. Some weekends, after hours and travel is required.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
