Responsibilities

  • This position will serve as the Editor-in-Chief of the official alumni publication VIRES magazine and will be responsible for all aspects of production timelines, content, freelance negotiations and overseeing design

Qualifications

Bachelor’s and 2 years of communications, marketing, publishing experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.

A valid Florida or Georgia driver’s license or the ability to obtain one.

Experience in Higher Education communications, public relations practice

Experience in publication management bringing a collaborative approach – planning with designers, stories, copy editors, freelance photographers, university photography

Experience with setting deadlines and communicating effectively

Experience in selecting articles and features to promote FSU and maintain the exceptional integrity of the VIRES publication

Ability to create and manage timeline for publication

Coordinate multiple ideas and creative functions including proofreaders, graphic designers

Ability to build a sustainable magazine to engage alumni of FSU with the goal to engage and actively participate with the university

Preferred
Master’s degree preferred along with experience in communications, marketing and publishing.

Pay Plan
This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.

Schedule
If not otherwise specified, schedule is M-F, 8-5. Some nights and weekends may be required.

Criminal Background Check
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
