Responsibilities

Dual Reporting: FSU Panama City Campus and ITS-ITAPP (Information Technology Administration Partnership Program) partnership to include management and delivery of information technology services to support the mission of the Panama City Campus. Systems Administrator, co-administrator for all computing technologies.
Assists the campus IT Manager with overall IT support and provides solutions to complex technology problems and issues. Provides support to the campus computing facilities and systems. Designs, installs, configures, monitors, troubleshoots and manages a diverse base of installed networking equipment, operating software, and/or network security applications. Provides support for related technologies including, but not limited to planning and managing servers, storage, desktops, mobile devices, Active Directory, audio/visual, and other technologies as needed. Designs, installs, configures, monitors, troubleshoots and manages both physical servers and virtual machines associated with VMWare and Microsoft technologies. Integrates technology to support the research and teaching needs for the campus. Works directly with students, faculty and staff. Provides guidance and training for coworkers.
Liaison to ITS colleagues. Leverage and works with existing FSU IT systems and services to avoid duplication of effort. Examples include virtualization technologies, directory services, web content and management systems, network management, e-mail, file storage, and workstation/lab support, networking and VoIP. Collaborate with ITS on application development needs for the campus. Create reports and work with ITS to assess the needs of the campus in order to track progress, recommend improvements, and demonstrate the value of the ITAPP partnership.
Works closely with ITS in managing objects in the FSU Active Directory and administering Subnets, VLANs, ACLs, DNS, DHCP, Wireless Access Points and other resources that define the network at the Panama City Campus. Documents and maintains system logs, and monitors system loads and connection activity. Manages the allocation/utilization of direct access storage, and performs a continuous review of the overall server environment. Troubleshoots and resolves access or performance issues including voice/data networks.
Assists the IT Manager and University Leaders in making technology recommendations. Documents policies and procedures. Disseminates information regarding university computer policies and maintenance activities. Ensures FSU technology policies, procedures are adhered to. Identifies and implements new technologies. Participates in strategic planning for campus technology initiatives.
Manages the distribution and updates of security software and ensures all software is updated to prevent security issues; documents and maintains software licenses. Maintains communication with outside vendors and consultants. Assists the campus with the inventory tracking of IT equipment. Maintains access to confidential information. Interprets and applies government and university connectivity, security and accessibility procedures. Authorizes user account access, passwords and information.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and four years’ experience or a combination of appropriate post high school education and experience equal to eight years.

Knowledge of information technology security measures.
Knowledge of the processes involved with inventory management and control.

Preferred

Project management experience is helpful
Microsoft operating system deployment technologies
Microsoft certification is helpful
Experience implementing and managing Active Directory environments is helpful
Experience implementing and managing group policies in Active Directory
Experience managing VMWare environments
Experience managing storage and backup systems
Experience supporting A/V systems in classrooms and auditoriums
CCNA or higher certification is helpful
Hands-on experience managing network switches, routers, and firewalls.

Anticipated Salary Range

Anticipated salary range mid $40’s to lower $50’s.

Pay Plan

This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.

Soft Money Funded Position

This is a soft money funded position, with renewal based on available funds and the needs of the University.

Schedule

If not otherwise specified, schedule is M-F, 8-5.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting.
