The position is a Full-Time, Career Service position with the State of Florida. (FTE Positions include full benefits and retirement options through the State of Florida.)
The incumbent in this position assists the agency spokesperson in the areas of developing public relations strategy, internal and external communication and reporting, etc. Specific duties include:
– Supports the media relations team in the following, but not limited to, searching for and disseminating daily media clips, developing first drafts of media responses/announcements, managing reporter contact information and databases and coordinating public records requests. Prepares and maintains records as necessary.
– Provides assistance in updating the department’s intranet and external website. Drafts written communication for social media, newsletters, articles and related items. Sends notices statewide. Assists with answering media calls, gathering information and daily administrative activities as necessary. Performs special assignments, research and report preparation. Assists in special event coordination and related outreach events.
– Develops and creates graphic design projects to enhance the overall communications efforts and goals of the department for internal and external audiences.
– Serves as liaison for Office of Communications to the Executive Office of the Governor as well as other state agencies, members of the media, and the public.
– Performs other duties as assigned.
In summary, I am really looking for someone with strong communications skills (both written and oral), social media experience and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite. The position pays $35,000 annually, and I am hoping to have someone start in May.
