Data Visualization Librarian @ FSU Libraries

Responsibilities

This new position will support FSU’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) which is part of the process for Reaffirmation of Accreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). It plays a crucial role in advancing research and scholarship at FSU by providing instructional and consultative support on the visualization and analysis of research data, particularly for doctoral students served by at the FSU Libraries.

Collaborate across the Libraries and FSU to provide consultative and instructional library services that advance scholars’ ability to visualize and analyze research data effectively.
Collaborate and partner with subject librarians, data librarians, and others to provide library services that support scholars across the research data lifecycle.

Coordinate and teach instruction sessions and programming related to data analysis and visualization and provide consultations for researchers in collaboration with subject librarians.
Collaborate with the Research Data Services group to design and create data visualization support services for graduate students using tools and software for data visualization, such as Tableau, Power BI, or other relevant platforms.

Collaborate with academic departments to integrate data visualization into the curriculum and support researchers in visualizing their data for presentations and publications.
Work collaboratively with the Graduate Student Resource Center to implement, advertise, track, and assess graduate skills workshops and individual consultations about data management, analysis, and visualization for doctoral students that are part of FSU’s QEP.
Work with library IT teams to integrate data visualization tools and technologies into library services and update relevant workshop content, descriptions, events, and training resources on the Data and Visualization Services library website.

Stay abreast with developments and trends in data services, data visualization, and data analysis, and effectively communicate their implications to library and campus stakeholders.
Provide service to the Libraries, the University, and the profession by contributing to committees and research and other forms of scholarly activity.

Qualifications

Graduate degree in data science, computer science, statistics, or a related field.
Familiarity and demonstrated expertise with one or more data visualization and analysis tools such as R-Studio, SPSS, Microsoft Power BI, MATLAB, Python, or other relevant software or programming languages.
Flexibility in adapting to changing organizational priorities and technological environments.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work flexibly and effectively in groups.

Preferred Qualifications
