Responsibilities

The Director of Communications oversees marketing and communications for the FSU Alumni Association (FSU AA). This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing all communications and overall marketing efforts for the Association including clubs, events, programs, membership, board communication, E-Communication, outreach/engagement, and students.

Responsible for the ongoing evaluation of communication and marketing programs, reporting frequently to the FSU AA President and leadership team and making recommendations on future direction.  Keeps abreast of current research and emerging practices in the field, and identifies new initiatives to improve the communication and marketing efforts of the FSU AA.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related field and six years of significant experience in institutional communications or marketing.

Ability to define goals and objectives, identify target audiences, and develop and implement strategic plans to accomplish and measure progress towards communications goals.

Strong organizational and management skills needed to manage multiple and competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

Ability to write persuasively and effectively with style appropriate to targeted audiences.

Experience in the use of modern communications technologies and branding principals to accomplish goals.

Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate direct reports and colleagues.

Strong verbal and interpersonal communications skills; ideal candidate is an excellent and versatile storyteller adept at writing and editing, and understand both in multiple platforms.

A valid Florida or Georgia driver’s license or the ability to obtain one.

Preferred

Master’s degree in communications, journalism, or related field.

Experience working in a higher education setting.

Experience working with alumni engagement initiatives.

Experience working with a variety of creative communications, data analytics, e-mail management, and web content management software platforms.

Pay Plan

This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
