Position Description

Big Bend Homeless Coalition seeks a highly motivated and creative self-starter with a passion for all things communications and social media to join their team as a Communications Intern. This position will work closely with the CEO to create dynamic and engaging social media content and newsletters to be published across a number of digital platforms. The Communications Intern will have the opportunity to collaborate with CEO on newsletters, posts, larger campaigns, and multimedia projects. The Communications Intern will play an active role in community outreach and in developing and driving the overall communications and media strategy for BBHC. They will also be asked to teach social media marketing strategies to the volunteer coordinator and CEO to create a sustainable communications and marketing plan to increase the visibility of BBHC.

 

Key Responsibilities

· Create monthly email update for BBHC.

· Create engaging social media posts regularly on Instagram and Facebook

· Conduct a social media audit to assess current audiences and content strategies

· Teach social media best practices to owner to create sustainable marketing strategy

· Develop and implement new social media content strategies based on audit findings

· Continue to increase number of followers on accounts through the production of high-quality content

· Create multi-platform social media campaigns

· Work with various groups within the Tallahassee community to promote Big Bed Homeless Coalition

· Research and implement new trends in communications and social media

· Track and report on key communications and social media analytics

Qualifications/Preferred skills

· Active social media presence and/or enthusiasm for social media

· Excellent writing and editing skills

· Interest in the fields of social media management, marketing, and communication

· Basic knowledge of photography and videography

· Ability to work independently and guide projects from beginning to end
