As such we provide an outstanding research and entrepreneurship-based education to one of the most diverse student populations in the US. College Computing Services (CCS) is the service unit of the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering that is responsible for overall support of computing and distance learning.

Responsibilities

Provides end-user workstation support; Responsible for troubleshooting and mitigating problems related to computer hardware and computer software applications; Performs initial computer hardware and software setup; Analyzes problems, develops solutions and installs/implements computer software and hardware; and works with FAMU and FSU University wide subject matter experts as needed to provide computing solutions for users.

Supports media equipment and services for technology enhanced class & conference rooms; Provides direct support for the continual operation and maintenance of all the media equipment in the facilities including projectors, televisions and digital displays, technology podiums, sound systems, microphones mixers, cameras, video and sound editing equipment, video-equipment, document cameras; and routinely tests and reviews media equipment for quality control and reliability.

Maintains student computer labs and public computers, including the software licenses and computer images used with these labs; Develops procedures and tools to assist with this effort; Assists in the daily operation of College Computing Services, providing support to other team members as needed, and assuring compliance to all appropriate policies and guidelines; Utilizes associated tools in accordance with unit and university standards; and provides assistance to various departmental projects and responsibilities, as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma and four years of related experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

 

Recommended Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Windows operating system and related tools;
  • Solid skills in maintaining personal computers utilizing Windows and MacOS operating systems;
  • Awareness of instructional computing and audio/visual needs, practices and technologies as used at the College of Engineering;
  • Strong customer service and communications skills;
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills;
  • Ability to document and explain technical information;
  • Ability to organize activities, create schedules, log events; and
  • Ability to work independently and to function well in a team setting

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • A full-time ITS Support Specialist to help us provide excellent, responsive support to our faculty and staff;
  • Previous professional experience in Windows computer support;
  • Audio/visual and classroom support experience is a definite plus;
  • Excellent Customer Service skills are essential;
  • A+ certification or equivalent knowledge is important; and
  • The selected candidate will respond to user-impacting incidents, handle computer installations and troubleshooting, and provide basic classroom support.

 

Anticipated Salary Range

Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

 

Pay Plan

This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.
