Salary Range
Anticipated starting salary $9.50/hour, salary negotiable based on experience.

Qualifications
A high school diploma and three years of experience in computer support activities.  A degree in Computer Science or closely related field may substitute for one year of experience.

Requirements
Must have significant and meaningful experience in three or more relevant technical areas, such as: UNIX/Linux systems administration, advanced personal computing support, development of web-based applications, systems integration, technical writing, graphic design.

Must have strong customer service skills, displaying empathy for the customer and firm resolve to make the customer’s support experience positive.

Must have a keen eye for aesthetics, caring about form as well as function, style as well as substance, in all aspects of work.

Must have excellent English communication skills, both in face-to-face interactions and via the written word.

Must have strong desire to expand technical horizons, to learn “on-the-fly” as the work demands.

Preferred
Specific technical skills that are strongly preferred include: JavaScript, PHP, MYSQL/Postgres/other SQL database, UNIX shell scripts, HTML/CSS, and web-related tools.  Knowledge of the basics of project management is a plus.  Awareness of ITIL/ITSM and/or service desk and call center processes is a plus.

Schedule
40 hours/week, generally between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (some flexibility possible); position is currently expected to last four to six months (but may be extended).

Responsibilities
Shepherd projects to completion as a project manager, coordinator, and contributor.

Perform the technical and administrative work required to accomplish projects–in some cases, perform an entire project solo; in other cases, orchestrate the involvement of a number of people to complete a project as a team.

The first project will be the implementation of a new Incident Management (“trouble ticket”) system, including installation, configuration, business rule development, documentation and training, etc.  Other projects, if assigned, may involve gathering and republishing of important information, documentation of policies and procedures, evaluation of new technologies, and integration of new and existing tools and datasets.

Maintain project schedules, track performance, and report project status on a regular basis.

At times, as directed, assist in other activities within CMS, especially customer/desktop support.
