Responsibilities

Provides IT system support and management for the Department of Campus Recreation. Ensures departmental application software and operating systems are up to date with vendor patches, performing necessary maintenance, and securing the systems. Proactively monitors servers to ensure efficient operation and backs up data on a regular basis.  Leads troubleshooting efforts and coordinates amongst staff, University technical support, and vendor support teams for related hardware and software issues.

Manages integration of purchased Campus Recreation software solutions. Analyzes feasibility of proposed business plans and provides recommendations for implementing third-party business systems. Works with third party vendors & University IT staff to install, configure, test, maintain, and upgrade purchased systems. Coordinates software system integration with other FSU information systems including web-based applications.  Implements solutions for departmental and divisional users.

Oversees management of departmental application, database, and web servers.  Provides technical support to various program areas for web site development and applications.  Remains current on web/server programming languages and tools including content management systems.  Coordinates with University ITS and third-party providers for mobile app development and management.  Provides regular security reports for departmental IT resources.

Communicates regularly with DSA IT Manager and provides additional support for divisional IT projects, including the integration of purchased Oglesby Union event scheduling software solutions. Coordinates with University ITS for supporting Campus Recreation employees with computer hardware and software installation, maintenance, and upgrades. Manages user access to various University and departmental systems and IT resources. Generates data reports as requested, which may require consolidation of data from multiple systems. Serves as department’s Unit Privacy Coordinator.

Oversees the ongoing training regarding IT systems and software for new and existing users to include full-time and part-time staff.  Provides IT management expertise and assistance for individual program and facility areas.

Responsible for hardware inventory tracking and IT purchasing processes. Researches equipment and makes recommendations regarding the IT budget depending on the needs of the department. Manages departmental technology needs and equipment for meetings, expositions, and special events.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree; or a high school diploma/equivalency and four years of experience.

(Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to four years.)

Experience with server management, web and mobile applications.

Experience with enterprise software configuration and implementation.

Experience in training non-technical users regarding software and application use.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field.
